On this image, I was drawn to the pattern in the disk flowers within the Maximillian Sunflower. I used a shallow Depth of Field to accentuate the mesmerizing design.

Each day this week I plan on presenting some images I’ve recently captured of some native sunflowers that are currently blooming all over Nebraska. Today, however, I have a different type of flower. I found these little purple flowers growing on the forest floor at Schramm State Recreation Area a couple of months ago. I kept this image for today – it’s my anniversary and I wanted to post this for my wonderful wife of 7 years. Happy Anniversary! (Sorry I didn’t get you real flowers, but we know the cats would just eat them anyway!)
On another note, before putting the images up I always take the time for identification so that the image data is accurate and so that people searching for a specific item will find it. In this case, however, I’ve exhausted all my online resources and have not found the proper identification for this flower! I found it in an upland deciduous forest area of Nebraska and I cannot tell if it’s wild or invasive. If anyone knows, please email me!
