Announcing “The Quiet Beauty of Nebraska”

For the past few weeks I have been putting the final touches on my book “The Quiet Beauty of Nebraska”.  I’ve neglected my blog and some other duties, but I am finally ready to make it available.  Comprised of over 40 photographs from across the state of Nebraska, this book focuses on the scenic landscape, nature, and native wildlife that I have travelled far and wide to capture.

To see a preview of the book and/or purchase, please take a look, it would make a great gift for the upcoming holiday season!

Print it Big!

The other night I was returning from a dinner with my family when I passed this billboard.  It sports a Platte River photograph of mine (with a little change) that I captured a couple of years ago (see below).  When I licensed the photograph a couple of months ago the marketing company wanted something that was very visible in Nebraska – the Platte River is something that most natives would recognize instantly.  It turned out good – the marketing company apparently decided to flip the sky which may have worked better with the text.  It’s always good to see your work printed big, and this is about as big as it gets and with tens of thousands of viewers per day!

This billboard can be seen off Interstate-80 in Omaha between the 60th street and 72nd street exits while traveling west. It’s on the left hand side.

Betty Strong Center – DeSoto and Boyer Chute Images

Images of Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge  Images from DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge.

A little over a year ago, I was contacted to contribute some photographs to the Betty Strong Center in Sioux City, Iowa.  It is an addition to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive learning center for the public.  I hadn’t had the opportunity to make it up to see the display, butlast weekend my family and I made the journey north.  The center is very impressive, they have many learning opportunities for children and adults alike, and it is a beautiful structure.  The Betty Strong Center is a wonderful addition and features a gallery and auditorium to advance learning.  The hallway with the Missouri River display is well designed and visually appealing.  If you are ever in the Sioux City area, I strongly encourage a visit, I think you will find it worth the time.
